Restaurant La Cusina
Alberto Fol
“La Cusina” is one of the most interesting restaurants in the city, as much for its ambience as for its high level of gastronomic excellence.
On the ground floor of the Casa Regina, the inner restaurant is composed of three intimate and welcoming areas, decorated in three different styles, where around one hundred people can be served
The characteristic that makes La Cusina a truly unusual restaurant is its open kitchen, unique in Venice and one of the few in Italy.
During the warmer season, meals are served on the terrace on the Grand Canal, with a breathtaking views over the wonderful church of Santa Maria della Salute, just in front, and the very end of the Canal leading to the wide Bacino di San Marco with the masterpiece façade of the Church of San Giorgio Maggiore by the XVI cent. architect Palladio. A second connecting terrace, on the Grand Canal as well, is used for private parties up to 100 persons. The Westin Europa & Regina is proud to be able to offer the longest terraced waterfront on the Grand Canal: m.35.
The cuisine of the restaurant is based on the rediscovery of the old dishes of the Venetian islands and the Veneto mainland, the fish and a large variety of meat preparations, the rice and the classical polenta, all refined by his expert touch of haut cuisine. Ancient traditional recipes are prepared, which are rarely offered today but in the same time, the Chefs continuously work on new dishes too. The Grande Carte changes every three months, according to the seasons and presents a different insert of the Chef’s Suggestions, which changes every week. One can find four suggestions for each course, according to what is freshest from the market
The wine cellar, also in the open, is truly exceptional, and has space for 1600 bottles of 250 different labels, which represent one of the widest selection of national and international wines in town. In addition to the best Venetian and Italian wines, and the great classic French and German ones, one can sample rarely available wines as the ones from Chile or Australia and California.
